LET YOUR VOICE BE HEARD

We are UsAmerica Advocates — empowering communities through civic engagement, voter registration, and children’s literacy.

Our Mission

UsAmerica Advocates, a grassroots organization, has been established to empower our communities through awareness and involvement. Two areas of concern are our focus: Voter Registration / Turnout and Children's Literacy Why these two? One, it is because all important decisions, policies, and laws that affect our community are initiated and decided by a relatively small group of individuals that vote and elected officials that make decisions based on their interests not the interests of the majority. If our communities are not a part of the process our issues will never garner serious consideration. Voting and running for office guarantees your “seat at the table.” No seat at the table, No say in what happens, it is as simple as that. Two, children are our most precious resource, and quite literally our future. Fact: According to the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP), a sector of the U.S. Department of Education, 85% of black students lack proficiency in reading skills, as of November 2021. This percentage has not changed significantly in the last three years. Overall, 2/3 of our children, including Hispanics and blacks, are unable to read with proficiency according to NAEP September 2023. In order to become viable, functioning, and productive members of society, our children must read proficiently. We owe it to each of them to provide them with every opportunity to succeed, and it all starts with reading. Programs, partnerships, and events are being developed to address and counter the disturbing numbers of reading proficiency. As the opening sentence of this mission statement reads, “We were established to empower our communities through awareness and involvement.” UsAmerica Advocates pledge to do just that.
